English is Weird

Why is English weird? Let me explain...

-Why is it that noses run and feet smell? Shouldn't it be the other way around?
-Why are there no eggs in an eggplant? Or dogs in a hotdog?
-A pineapple does not have pine in it. Or apple, for that matter.
-Why are boxing rings square? If they're rings, they should be round.
-If one tooth plus another are teeth, and one goose plus another are geese, why isn't one moose plus another meese?
-Why do we recite a play and play at a recital?
-Why do we park on the driveway and drive on the parkway?
-When a house burns up, how can it also burn down???

Just wondering. If you ask me, the english language is messed up. Someone should do something about it.
